Doubt is a sensational drama and one of the best of its kind

Set in 1964, Doubt centers on a nun who confronts a priest after suspecting him of abusing a black student. He denies the charges, and much of the play's quick-fire dialogue tackles themes of religion, morality, and authority.John Patrick Shanley who is a writer and won an Oscar with the Moonstuck(1987) for best writing, put in a great performance as a director along with the great acting by Merly Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Before I watched the movie I was a bit reluctant as I thought it could be boring but as i mentioned earlier the performances by Merly Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman were nothing but stunning.Merly Streep(Sister.Aloysius Beauvier) as a nun displays a strict-on-rules character who has also a great self-confidence and all the aspects of narsism and on the other side Philip Seymour Hoffman as a Priest.(Father Flynn)whose attitudes on the students are more loving and built on a diologue with the students as oppose to Merly Streep's character and there is Amy Adams(Sister James) whose character can be described as a loving teacher who loves teaching history and her students and who has moral values and vulnerable. As the name implies things starts with just a doubt as there is no evidence.the story revolves around the trio.the continious fight between the nun and the father and the confused teacher. The nun believes there is a wrongdoing but just with a doubt and the Priest denies charges and wont step down and The teacher influenced by the great character of the nun but also wants to believe the father's innocence.

as a conclusion I enjoyed every minute of the movie especially by the performances and the great conflict that was shown in human nature. In the end I couldnt help questioning my general judgements and is what we see and believe is what they really are?by the way is the Father Flynn innocent?.I think thats also the question that you need to find out..
